INFORMATION REPORT ABOUT VACATION SPOT IN BALI

Hello guys, this is my english task when i was in shs, hope you like it!

KUTA

Kuta is administratively a district (kecamatan) and subdistrict/village (kelurahan) in southern Bali, Indonesia. A former fishing village, it was one of the first towns on Bali to see substantial tourist development, and as a beach resort remains one of Indonesia's major tourist destinations. It is known internationally for its long sandy beach, varied accommodation, many restaurants and bars, and many renowned surfers who visit from Australia. It is located near Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport.
Kuta was the site of the October 12, 2002 1st Bali bombing (202 killed) and the October 1, 2005 2nd Bali bombing (26 killed).
The Balinese Provincial Government have taken the view that the preservation of the Balinese culture, natural resources and wildlife are of primary importance in the development of the island. To this end they have limited tourist development to the peninsula on the extreme southern aspect of the island; Kuta beach is on the western side of this peninsula and Sanur is on the east. To the north of the peninsula no new tourist development is supposedly permitted.
To the south, Kuta Beach extends beyond the airport into Jimbaran. Other nearby towns and villages include Seseh (6.4 nm), Denpasar (4.5 nm), Ujung (1.8 nm), Pesanggaran (2.0 nm), Kedonganan (2.9 nm) and Tuban (1.0 nm).
Bali bombing memorial
After the first Bali Bombing in 2002 at Kuta, a permanent memorial was built on the site of the destroyed Paddy's Pub on Legian Street. (A new bar, named "Paddy's: Reloaded", was reopened further along Legian Street.) The memorial is made of intricately carved stone, set with a large marble plaque, which bears the names and nationalities of each of those killed. It is flanked by the national flags of the victims. The monument is well-maintained and illuminated at night.
The memorial was dedicated on 12 October 2004, the second anniversary of the attack. The dedication included a Balinese Hindu ceremony and the opportunity for mourners to lay flowers and other offerings. The Australian ambassador and Indonesian officials attended the ceremony as most of the victims were Australians.
The Balinese mark their commitment in a nine-day long event. After major cleansing ceremonies, establishing a memorial for the lost lives, and paying respect to those who left loved ones behind, the people of Kuta look forward to restoring Bali’s image through an event named "Kuta Karnival — A Celebration of Life”. The community event consists of traditional art performances such as Balinese Sunset Dances, sports on the beach as well as in the water for young and old plus rows and rows of culinary displays along the one kilometre of sandy beach.
In line with the return of tourism to Kuta, Kuta Karnival has grown into a tourism promotional event with major coverage from television and newspapers from across the globe. Companies, embassies, Non-Government Organizations, associations and even individuals come forth to get involved in the various events such as a Balinese dance competition presented by a surf-wear company, an environment exhibition presented by an embassy, a fun cycle presented by a group of individuals, a seminar presented by an association and a parade on the streets presented by an NGO. Tourists and locals alike, more than ninety thousand people participates in the numerous events, year after year.
A repeated tragedy in Bali in 2005 did not reduce the Kuta community’s determination to carry out this annual event. Kuta Karnival is conducted to commemorate and give respect to the victims of human violence and show the world the true spirit of local community survival despite terrorism attacks.
Kuta Beach
Kuta Beach is a beach located in Kuta. The beach has been notable since early 1970s. Kuta beach is also known as Sunset Beach, as opposed to the Sunrise Beach, another name for Sanur Beach. Luxury resorts, restaurants, and clubs are located along the beach.
In 2011, a two-meter white sandstone fence, built in a Balinese architecture style, was built along the road to block the sand from blowing to the cafes and restaurants. The project costed Rp.4 billion ($0.47 million). Some tourists dislike it as it is considered blocking the beach view, while some others believe the wall helps dampen the sounds from the congested traffic street. To make the beach cleaner, as of late August 2011, the vendors are prohibited to sell food at the Kuta Beach, but they are still allowed to sell beverages and souvenirs.

The rapid growth owes much to visitors, beachcombers and art lovers from nearby Australia. Expatriates also helped pioneer surfing in Kuta, as well.
Although a rather frenzied traffic scene has become commonplace here, Kuta Beach continues to attract thousands of visitors every year with its unique charm. During the peak season from July to August and the holiday season for Christmas and New Year, Kuta Beach is regularly fully-booked by travellers looking forward to a pleasant and affordable Bali escape. The best season for surfing adventure at Kuta Beach is on dry season it is because the flows from the southeast to the west and create the good wave for surfing.
Once a sleepy village with a quiet, beautiful sweep of beach, Kuta today has become a popular beach destination in its own right, alive with tourists from all over the world, swimming, surfing or sunbathing by the beach. Others, casually dressed in shorts, T-shirts and flip-flops stroll along its main road, shopping around or enjoying meals at its many open air restaurants. When in Kuta you know that you are in a holiday town, and people here are in a holiday mood.
Back in the 1960’s the only hotel was the Kuta Beach Hotel, but soon without much planning, Kuta developed rapidly into a haunt for surfers and backpackers, while the high end market preferred to stay at the more sedate Sanur village on the opposite side of the peninsula.
With time, Kuta’s popularity grew, and shops, restaurants, discos hotels, - from the simple to the exclusive - sprang up along the main road from Kuta to Legian, catering to the ever increasing holiday crowd, that not only included international tourists but also domestic visitors from Jakarta and other big cities.
On the beach, people enjoy parasailing, banana boat trips or swimming Women offer traditional Indonesian massage on the beach, others are seen plaiting hair.
Before sunset, crowds rush to the beach waiting to watch Kuta’s legendary sunsets. Then as darkness falls, Kuta’s nightlife starts to throb with loud music from bars and restaurants, while shops stay open till late at night. Kuta’s main attraction is that everyone can enjoy the town without any prescribed dress code.

JOGER
Holiday in Bali it was not enough if you do not visit Joger Bali. Joger Bali is known as the factory of words located in the Kuta area highways. It's very strategic and take a 10-minute drive from Ngurah Rai airport if there is no congestion. Located on Jalan Raya Tuban not far from the Supernova shopping centre Kuta, this place is extremely popular with domestic tourists and at most times crowded.
Joger name is taken from the name of its owner, Mr. Joseph Theodorus Wulianadi combined with the name of his friend Mr. Gerard. Her friend was very instrumental in pioneering venture plant this word. In 1981 Joseph was given a wedding present by Gerard of U.S. $ 20,000 as the capital of the business. Originally opened in Jalan Sulawesi address no 37 Denpasar, but the date of July 7, 1987 the store was moved to its present address at Jalan Raya Kuta next to the supermarket Supernova.
When entering the outlets, each visitor will be greeted by friendly and sticker as a token entry. There is a special room that displays a collection of T-shirts, souvenirs such as mugs special room, slippers, key chains, and inverted clock. Joger Bali is the only place in Indonesia who sold the watch upside down and it is typical souvenirs Joger Bali. There is also room in the corner that offers souvenirs in the form of urns and other trinkets.
Joger doesn’t mean anything, we’re oriented toward Nike, Adidas, Billabong and Quicksilver. Ika told me that Joger is a specialty t-shirt shop, famous for its slogans. Outside the shop, is a big sign saying ‘Pabrik kata-kata‘ (we have a factory of words). I parked across the busy street, which is lined with Javanese and other Indonesian food places. Inside Joger domestic tourists were funneled through the shop in prescribed direction. Joger sells Balinese handicrafts, t-shirts, bags, hats and other small gifts.
Anyway, Joger is a famous brand in Indonesia, and if you show up in Java wearing one of their t-shirts, locals will make that connection with Bali. Joger is an amazing place to shop with practically all handicrafts made in Bali on sale at great prices. They have a vast range of T-Shirts and bags. Joger is open from 11am – 6pm daily.
The price also varies with the quality of the highly preferred. Almost every day the place is visited by local and foreign tourists. Especially during the holiday season, Eid, Christmas and the new year. A very strategic place with a unique product makes this store unique is never empty of visitors. So that the visitors ran out of stock often dress size. We recommend that you do not visit on a holiday and the holiday season. So it will be free to choose and do not run out of sizes.
Reserved parking area is not large enough, so that jams occur frequently when the store is crowded. Especially during the school holidays. Many students from outside Bali, which uses four-wheel vehicles meet these parking areas. However this is not a constraint to not visit this store.
In addition to the highway Kuta, Joger has now opened branches on the highway leading to Bedugul. Do not forget to stop by if there are plans to Bedugul holiday, so no need to queue at the entrance Joger Kuta. If you want to visit Bali Joger at your leisure, of course you will need a means of transportation. One way to get the means transportation for visiting Joger is to rent a car or use public facilities transportation the taxi

TANAH LOT
Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It is home to the pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot (literally "Tanah Lot temple"), a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography and general exoticism. Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 16th-century Dang Hyang Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock, for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.
The Tanah Lot temple was built and has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples was established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast. In addition to Balinese mythology, the temple was significantly influenced by Hinduism. At the base of the rocky island, venomous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. The temple is purportedly protected by a giant snake, which was created from Nirartha's selendang (a type of sash) when he established the island.
In 1980, the temple's rock face was starting to crumble and the area around and inside the temple started to become dangerous.TheJapanese government then provided a loan to the Indonesian government of Rp 800 billion (approximately US$130 million) to conserve the historic temple and other significant locations around Bali. As a result, over one third of Tanah Lot's "rock" is actually cleverly disguised artificial rock created during the Japanese-funded and supervised renovation and stabilization program.
The area leading to Tanah Lot is highly commercialized and people are required to pay to enter the area. To reach the temple, visitors must walk through a set of Balinese market-format souvenir shops which cover each side of the path down to the sea. On the mainland clifftops, restaurants have also been provided for tourists.
Tanah Lot, Balinese for "Land in the Sea", is a stunning temple carved into a rock formation on the border of the ocean. Contrusted by the priest Nirartha in the 15th century, it is one of Bali's most sacred sites and it is famous for its marvelous views of the western sunset. Located about 90 minutes north west of Kuta, it's not very difficult to get to and this location is usually part of organized sight seeing tours of the west coast. The rugged coastline here is quite spectacular with many interesting rock formations that interplay with the tides.
If you are in Bali to go sightseeing, then Pura Tanah Lot is a great place to go watch the sunset. Personally, having already travelled Europe, I was not particularly impressed by any of the temples in Bali. I thought they were nice to look at, but for me, the real attraction of Bali is the beach lifestyle and the natural scenery. But it just depends on what experience you are looking to get from your trip. There are also some other cool temples just down the shoreline from Tanah Lot so you can easily spend an afternoon and evening here exploring the coast, checking out the temples, and sampling the local food and shopping.
